The members of the Gibson County Theatre Company (GCTC) board of directors will post twelve trivia questions on Facebook related to the Twelve Days of Christmas during the eight weeks leading up to our dinner theatre performance of “The Twelve Daze of Christmas.” For each question, the first person to answer the question correctly in the comment thread on Facebook will win a CD that contains the music from “The Twelve Daze of Christmas,” performed at the Gibson County Fairgrounds on December 2 and 3, 2011. At the end of the trivia series, we will hold a random drawing for the grand prize, a $50 gift certificate to the Farmer’s Daughter Bakery and Café. Each correct answer to a trivia question will earn one entry into the drawing for the grand prize. Each person is eligible for up to 12 entries for the grand prize.
The first question will be posted on Wednesday, October 5. To be sure you see all the questions, visit us on Facebook and “Like” our page – http://www.facebook.com/gibsoncountytheatre.
The trivia questions will be posted on Facebook every Wednesday in October, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in November. The answer to the trivia question and the winner will be posted the following day. The grand prize winner will be announced on Facebook on Monday, November 28.

Show synopsis:
It’s Christmas-time and all Alice wants to do is just sing one of her favorite holiday songs, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” But after just a few words, Alice realizes that when she sings, the characters in the popular holiday tune begin to come to life. Alice’s boyfriend has decided to surprise her by sending her all of the twelve gifts mentioned in the traditional carol. With each verse, Alice unleashes a wacky stream of characters that are far from what most people envision when singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” From Turtle & Dove, two attorneys that try to convince Alice to sue Santa Claus for invasion of privacy to milkmaids who have created a union and are on strike because of poor working conditions, the play turns the traditional holiday song into a fast-paced zany collection of characters. This play keeps theatre-goers wondering who will show up every time Alice opens her mouth and sings the next verse.
GCTC is having a huge work day this Sunday to move the Anne Frank set into the Activities Bldg. This is a huge and relatively complex set that must be disassembled, moved, and reassemble all in one day.
We also have to move extra platforms to elevated the audience and other flats to separate the house from the lobby. These flats will require painting and fabric dressing.
Work will start by 8:00am and continue until the work is completed. If you are available to help, stop by the Gibson County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 17th.
The Gibson County Theatre Company is having a work day on Saturday, September 10th at 9AM in Stacy Hurt’s room (just off of the cafeteria) at the Princeton Community High School. We will be working on cushions for use at all of our shows at the Activities Building. We are looking for people who want to help sew, cut, or just stuff pre-cut cushions into the sleeves.
GCTC is presenting The Diary of Anne Frank September 23rd-25th at the Gibson County Fairgrounds Activities Building. As part of Gibson County Theatre Company’s education goals, we are presenting a youth competition.
We are seeking graphic interpretation of the holocaust. Any media may be used including poster, sculpture, and computer graphics as examples. The competition is open to middle school and high school students. Entries should be submitted at the Gibson County Tourism Office, located in the Train Depot on West Broadway in Princeton. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 16th.
All projects will be on display in the lobby area of the theater on show nights, and prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. For questions please contact our Education Director, Jill Wright by email porky2@insightbb.com; or phone: 812-779-7927.
Well… ok, it’s not snowing yet, but it certianly looks like there will be a hazy shade of winter this December with GCTC’s production of The Twelve Daze of Christmas. If you’ve never been in a Gibson County Theatre Company production before, this is a great place to start. You can sign up for more information about being in Twelve Daze after each production of The Diary of Anne Frank, or just come to auditions. The auditions will be held in the Princeton Community High School Auditorium on Thursday September 29 from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday October 1 from 10:00am-12:00 noon.
The Gibson County Theatre Company is proud to announce the appointment of our newest board member, Kristofor Schmidt. To find out about Kristofor, and the other board members, visit the board members section of our website.
Kris is an August 2011 addition to the GCTC Board of Directors. A lifelong Gibson County resident, he resides in Princeton with wife Jennifer and children Luke and Zoey. Kris was involved in several stage productions at PCHS until graduation in 1997. After years of artistic absence he was recruited to fill an open cast slot in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Since then he has continued a stage presence in several shows with the company. Passion for the arts has grown and interest has broadened from acting to more involvement behind the scenes. The bug has spread to son Luke who has enjoyed two seasons with the children’s summer drama camp and an appearance in The King and I alongside his father. Mr. Schmidt is proud to call this area his home. He feels the arts are a very important part of life and this community is a very accepting and supportive place for theatre. The talent just keeps coming!
