Theatre Project in the Works

A few weeks ago, we, along with many of our patrons, gathered at the old Princeton Theatre to make a presentation to the Stellar Grant Committee.  Thanks to your help, the committee saw the support of the community for the project, during their stop at the theatre.

Gibson County Theatre Company is happy to announce that Princeton has been awarded the Stellar Grant and will receive over $18 million dollars for projects that include the restoration of the Princeton movie theatre into a performing arts center.

Exciting times are ahead and we will need the support of all of you to make this work.

GCTC Needs Your Help
As you may already know, there is a major effort to restore the old Princeton Theatre to its original grandeur as a performing arts center and make it the home of the Gibson County Theatre Company.  A main part of this project is dependent on a Stellar Grant being pursued by the city of Princeton.  Included in this grant is $2,000,000 (that’s 2 Million!) to renovate the theatre and surrounding grounds.
Now here is where you come in.  On the afternoon of April 11 the grant review committee will be in Princeton to do a site visit as their final step in awarding the grant….Princeton has made it to the finals.  GCTC is scheduled to make a multi-media presentation from 2:30-2:45 inside the theatre.  It would be wonderful if we had some of our many fans, volunteers, and supporters present during this presentation to show the review committee the support we have from our community for this project.  It would even be more impressive if we could fill the place, so if you are free that afternoon, please come and lend your support.  This truly is a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity.  If successful, we will have one of the finest community theatres in the country.
If you can come, we are asking everyone to show up between 2:00 and 2:15.  We want everyone in their seats by 2:15.  They have a very tight time-line and agenda and we have so little time to present our case. You can RSVP to the event on our Facebook page.  Feel free to invite others to tag along… the more the better.

GCTC Supports Gibson County Grant Application

The Gibson County Theatre Company to express support for Princeton’s 2012 Stellar Communities Pilot Program application.

“Creating a World Class Community” is a vision that GCTC desired for years and something that Princeton needs to support its many world-class companies.  It’s also a vision that we believe can be achieved if Princeton is selected as a Stellar Community in 2012.

Gibson County Theatre Company is excited to be involved with the Stellar Program application and realizes the positive impact it will have on the community of Princeton.  The overall improvements this program will bring to our town will significantly enhance the quality of life for its residents.  With the intention of restoring Princeton’s historic theater on Broadway into a Theatre for Performing Arts, GCTC sees this as a great opportunity to continue to grow our company and fulfill our mission of performing entertaining and thought-provoking theatrical productions for our community, as well as fostering and developing the artistic talents and skills of interested persons.

In our 9 year existence, GCTC has seen the community grow culturally as a result of the opportunities that we provide our residents, and sees the Stellar Communities Pilot Program as an excellent chance to continue to do so; therefore, we request that our partners at OCRA, INDOT, and IHCDA give serious consideration to selecting Princeton as a Stellar Community in 2012.
